Meaning of Logo

The name , Amerasian Defensive Arts was chosen to best represent the blending of both Eastern and Western philosophies, training methods, and the defensive nature of our program.

The shield in the logo helps signify self-defense.

The logo for Amerasian Defensive Arts is a shield. On the shield is a diamond representing two themes.

A diamond is the hardest substance on earth. At ADA we train our mind and our body to be as strong as they can be. We build a strong will and a strong body.

The diamond bears five points via intersecting lines. These five points represent the five distinct, yet synthesized disciplines drawn upon for our self-defense training.

The top point represents arnis (Palisutan Arnis), a most practical self-defense art. The bulk of our self-defense training comes from Palisutan Arnis.

The center point represents aikido no kokoro, lending flexibility to our strength. "The mighty oak tree cracks and falls from the powerful winds. The tall grass of the field bends and sways in the wind but remains standing."

The bottom point represents counter-offensive firearms skills. Firearms are extremely useful by almost anyone properly trained in a deadly force situation. However, the use of firearms bears a heavy responsibility weighing them to the bottom. Firearms are a means of last resort.

On the fringes the right and left points represent Muay Thai and Kodokan Judo respectively. Though they're not central to ADA, they offer important training aspects to our self-defense training.

These five disciplines are our tools for self-defense and increased quality of life.

The diamond is surrounded by an olive leaf, a representation of peace. Through our training and discipline we develop an inner peace. Being at peace with ourselves allows us to be at peace with others.  However, when our peaceful life is interrupted we have the tools, to restore our peace.

The straight, angular, and curved lines in the logo represent universal movement.

The colors of gold on top, blue on the left, and red on the right represent the Filipino flag hung in a neutral position.  At ADA we're neutral. We aren't looking for a fight ,but if trouble finds us, we're prepared to deal with it.

The diamond and the olive wreath represent balance between peace, and the tools to restore peace. At ADA we seek balance in our daily lives.
